Types of Christmas Trees
Selecting a Christmas Tree
Height
To determine the correct height of tree to buy, you should take your ceiling height ex: 8ft and subtract the height of the tree topper (1 ft) as well as the height of the tree stand and any additional base you may prefer (a stand is 6 inches), then add 6 inches to account for the bottom of the trunk that'll be cut off.
So, it looks like this:
8'0 - 1'0 - 0'6" + 0'6" = 7'0
If you have an 8 ft ceiling, you should buy a 7 ft tree.

Freshness
Here are some tips on how to identify and select a fresh Christmas tree that will last you all holiday season.

Check the needles, they should be flexible, not brittle

Needles stay attached when you run your hand along the branch

Smell the tree! A healthy tree should have a strong, fresh scent

The color should be rich and vibrant, not dull or brown

Branches should feel sturdy enough for ornaments
How to Care for Your Tree
1.) Transport it carefully
Wrap your tree if driving more than 15 minutes and secure it tightly with the base facing forward.
2.) Store it properly before setup
Keep your tree out of sunlight and place it in water in a cool, shaded area if not bringing it inside right away.
3.) Make a fresh cut
Trim ½–1 inch off the trunk before placing it in the stand to help it absorb water.
4.) Use the right stand
Choose a stand that fits your tree and holds enough water. Never trim the sides of the trunk to make it fit.
5.) Stick to plain water
Only use clean, room-temperature water. Skip additives like sugar, bleach, or preservatives.

6.) Keep it away from heat
Place your tree away from vents, fireplaces, and direct sunlight to slow down drying.
7.) Decorate safely
Use tested lights, keep fragile ornaments higher up, and turn lights off when unattended.
8.) Watch pets and kids
Secure the tree if needed and keep cords and breakables out of reach.
9.) Water daily
Check water levels every day and never let the base dry out.
10.) Remove when dry
Take your tree down once it becomes dry. Never burn it indoors.
